WELCOMEHappy Friday Families,
Today was amazing! The best "on task" and "Following the Directions Quickly" I have experienced thus far this year! Even with the exciting "STEM" Presentations seen first thing. (Pictures posted in Class Dojo.) So good was our day that the students have officially earned their "Pajama Day Reward" this upcoming Monday. Woo hoo! Please help me praise your child for an awesome day! With the reward, please be mindful that pajamas must follow the "dress code" appropriateness expectations. I spoke with the students today about what is permitted and what needs to be avoided. Overall, what a week! This week we participated in our first FAST Test in both reading and math. Your child's score can be found in your Focus Portal under reports! Almost immediate feedback! The next round of FAST Testing isn't until January. This gives us plenty of time to practice our math and reading skills to help your child make learning gains. At Curriculum Night next Wednesday I will show the curriculum we are using here at Plato Academy Palm Harbor and provide several online resources you could access at home to help prepare your child for success. Academically this week we continued to learn and master our multiplication skills. As you have seen from homework I have taught many strategies for multiple digit multiplication. My favorite is the standard algorithm method! Most students also seem to prefer this strategy as well. For homework, students need to practice multiplying to help them prepare for the end of chapter assessment at the end of next week. (Specific date will be posted in Class Dojo and our Study Guide will go the night before.) As you may see, the memorization of multiplication facts is very important to help students be successful. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns. Please have a wonderful, restful, and fun weekend! Best regards, Mrs. Townsend |

Volunteering in the ClassAs a teacher there are several "chores" that I would LOVE your help with:
(1) Weekly copying (2) Keeping the class organized (3) Sharpening Pencils There will be several opportunities throughout the school year that we will NEED parent support. These specific needs will be shared through the Weekly Email. |
Class DonationsAs the year progresses, specific needs will be requested via the Weekly Email
If you are able to donate to the classroom there are several items on my "Teacher Wish List" that would help make the year easier. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3I3Y1CO68PLDD?ref_=wl_share |
